Mission Possible II Team Completes Disaster Relief Trip!

Seventeen Parishioners completed a disaster relief mission trip forMission Possible II. Just 90 miles away, Most Holy Trinity Church's ministry partnered with the St. Bernard's Project and the Friends of Rockaway and helped rebuild the Brown's family home destroyed during SuperStorm Sandy. Four long years later, this family of three lacked a roof on an uninhabitable, devastated shell of a house. The father, currently disabled from a carpentry job injury, cares for his cancer -stricken mother and teenaged son.

The Mission team departed August 14th from Wallingford to New York, and returned August 18th. Staying at the Living Waters Fellowship house in Brooklyn, the team commuted 75 minutes to Queens via public transportation. From subways to buses, mass transit will be our team travelled back and forth to the damaged home. Overseen by AmeriCorps volunteers, our volunteers conducted onsite work and safety training daily, including perform mudding, sanding and other house reconstruction tasks.

Thank you to the hundreds who supported our very successful Pasta Dinner, and raising more than $3,000 for the trip!

God bless your continued support of our Mission Possible ministry to serve those in need!

2015 Mission Trip a Success!

Thank you to the hundreds of supporters for our Church's first mission trip, to Appalachia, Kentucky! Our team of 15 refurbished the Piarist Catholic School and just in time for their August opening. Additionally, our Mission delivered school supplies to the needy.

All of you answered the call to serve in America’s most poverty stricken regions, eastern Kentucky. We are especially grateful to all of our Parish supporters, the fundraising & event teams, and the traveling volunteers:

Gerard Boyd, Daniel Cosgrove, Jeanie Cosgrove, Rob Fritz, Laurie Hogan, Bob Hyland, Marty Mansfield, Flor Ortiz, Santos Ortiz, Patrick Ryan, Katie Saia, Sergio Sensini, Gus Trujillo, Ena Asucena Vintimilla and Father Thomas Walsh

God blessed our efforts abundantly as our fundraising exceeded the $10,000 goal through so much generosity. We were overwhelmed with the group, school and family sacrifices made with private donations, and ask for God’s blessings on every one of you. Hundreds of you attended our two fundraising events, volunteered to work, sold tickets, and donated your time and savings—thank you!  Special recognition extends to the Wallingford Rotary Foundation, Trinity Ladies Club, the students of Holy Trinity School and the Spanish CCD and youth group, for their special fundraising campaigns to send our team to Kentucky!  And thank you to the Wallingford Rotary Foundation for their very generous grant award. Our indebtedness extends to the generosity of so many local businesses for their support, and our Rectory staff for their administrative help.

A special thanks extends to our event chairpeople for their efforts:

  • Wine Tasting Sponsor – Vines Distinctive Wines & Spirits and the Tristine family

  • Wine Tasting Event – Arlene Cassello

  • Online Marketing – Betty Girasulo

  • Pasta Dinner - Yolanda Benini

Thank you again!
